The Clinical Director is responsible for providing the clinical oversight of Monarch Shores’ Detoxification, Residential, and Therapeutic Programs providing oversight for overall operations under the direction of the Chief Executive Officer. The Clinical Director shall continually strengthen the organization’s infrastructure, supervise personal, and enforce State, CARF and JCAHO policies and procedures.
Major Duties and Responsibilities:
- Provide weekly clinical supervision through documenting assessments of professional competencies, clinical skills, and providing recommendations through weekly meetings and direct/periodic observation.
- Ability to develop and manage the facility’s alcohol and drug abuse recovery or treatment services and budget.
- Ability to recruit, employ, train, and evaluate qualified staff, and terminate employment of staff, if applicable to the facility.
- Supervise a team of Counselors and Therapists to ensure completion of work and adherence to program policies and procedures
- Provide weekly clinical supervision through documenting assessments of professional competencies, clinical skills, and providing recommendations through weekly meetings and direct/periodic observation;
- Maintain a caseload of client’s individual therapy sessions of a least 2 per week.
- Provide a new hire orientation for Counselors and Therapists;
- Comply with State/Federal and/or Certification/Licensure training requirements;
- Provide assessments and participates in the treatment planning with clients and their families/significant others.
- Assist and facilitate discharge planning and community outreach.
- Initiate, facilitate and promote on-site activities, therapeutic support and educational groups, outings and community meetings and documents on these in the client’s chart.
- Provide education for clients and significant others.
- Respond to emergencies and initiates action as required.
- Record significant events involving client’s activities in the daily record.
- Respond to client complaints.
- Attend and participate in staff meetings and training.
- Other duties, as assigned.
Essential Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Knowledge: The Clinical Director will:
- Possess experience with education of chemical and alcohol dependency and abuse.
- Possess the ability to communicate and work effectively with people from various backgrounds.
- Possess experience providing group, individual and family therapy.
- Abilities: To excel in this position the Clinical Director should be able to demonstrate the following competencies:
- Problem Solving – The Clinical Director will be able to identify and resolve problems in efficient and effective ways.

- Leadership – The Clinical Director should be able to lead and direct all staff members.

- Organization – Must be highly organized and efficient in managing the necessary daily client/staff demands and tasks associated with them.

Qualifications and Preferences:
- Requires 3-5 years’ work experience in the behavioral health field, specifically in substance abuse.
- Licensed, Certified or registered to obtain the AOD to provide chemical dependency or other counseling services with at least two years of experience providing group, individual and family therapy. Licensed professionals (Physicians, LPC-S, LCSW, MFT, MFTi) are exempt from certification, however, shall be encouraged to maintain CEU’s in substance abuse related education as required by ADP Counselor Certification requirements.
- State Driver’s License
- Experience with education of chemical and alcohol dependency and abuse;
- Ability to communicate and work effectively with people from various backgrounds.
- Commitment to the philosophy of recovery and continuity of the program and of consideration and respect for clients.
- Current CPR and First Aid Certification
- Current T.B. test.
