Recovery Advocate

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Recovery Advocate/ Operations Liaison works daily with the patients directly. They report directly to the clinical and operational directors. Their job is to ensure that from the start of their program, patients are met with a high quality of care. This quality of care will include any amenities within the programs rules that will ensure a safe and happy stay at Willow Springs Recovery. Within the description of this position, the employee is directly responsible with blocking a patient from leaving the program before their discharge date. When crisis situations happen (Arguments within the house, disruptions, etc.). The PA/OL will directly intervene and act as crisis intervention. PA/OL will report daily to direct supervisors with a daily report of tasks completed:

· Meet and greet all new patients as they enter the program.

· Do orientation.

· Check on the well-being and care of all patients.

· Support staff in any way that will help patients complete the program.

· Communicate with all departments regarding any patient concerns.

· Work with clinical and operational directors with any tasks needed.

· Attempt to block any patients from leaving ACA or before their discharge date.

· Provide daily updates to all clinical, admissions, and operational staff on the status of patient care.

· Settle any crisis situations between patients. (Crisis intervention).

· Provide patients with any requested groups, and New Patient Orientation (NPO).

· Fill out related ACA checklist, new patient care checklist, and all other forms related to patient care.

· Fill in for holes in schedule of other staff (BHT) and fulfill their responsibilities when available.

· Facilitate orientation groups at detox and residential as needed to orientate clients on Program rules, policies and schedule.

· Help Admissions, Clinical, Operations and all over departments with any task given.

MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Completion of all Behavioral Health Technician duties and/or documentation within Monarch Shores and state mandated timelines.

2. Conduct client rounds according to state protocols and document appropriately.

3. Responsible to read communication log at beginning of shift and complete their own summary and essential tasks contained therein by conclusion of shift.

4. Complete new admission intake procedures according to Monarch Shores policies on all new admissions (UA, belongings searches, and paperwork).

5. Documentation of daily progress in client charts. Overnight staff to document quantity and quality of sleep in progress notes.

6. Administering detoxification protocols (completion of vital signs and rounds) on all detoxification clients.

7. Crisis intervention.

8. Assist, teach and/or supervise clients with general household chores.

9. Monitor the needs and behaviors of clients; Interact with clients and their families/significant others as needed and documents such interactions.

10. Continue to learn about alcohol and/or drug abuse and alcoholism and the principles of recovery.

11. Assist and participate with on-site activities, support groups, outings and community meetings, as assigned.

12. Establish rapport, systematically gather data, determine the readiness of the individual for treatment and change.

13. Screen for psychoactive substance toxicity, intoxication, and withdrawal symptoms.

14. Demonstrate adherence to accepted ethical and behavioral standards of conduct.

15. Participate in continuing professional development.

16. Maintain facility cleanliness and upkeep of program.

17. Utilize principles of communicable disease prevention and control.

18. Recognize early signs of illness and the need for professional assistance and follow through & report it immediately.

19. Assist in the availability of community services and resources.

20. Recognize individuals under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs and documents when needed in communication log and/or an Incident Report.

21. Respond to emergencies and initiate action as required.

22. Follows HIPAA Regulations.

23. Be awake during all shifts.

24. Attend and participate in staff meetings and trainings.

25. Performs other duties, as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS AND PREFERENCES: The following requirements and preferences will be evaluated and verified to establish employment eligibility.

1. Experience, knowledge or interest in chemical dependency and abuse.

2. Valid Driver’s License.

3. Ability to communicate and work effectively with diversity.

4. Current CPR & First Aid Certification.

5. Must be available to work weekends- REQUIRED
