Sick people shouldn’t count on getting over an illness by hanging around other sick people. They need science-based help. The same applies to alcohol and drug addiction. While 12-step groups such as Alcoholics Anonymous can help, they are not based on science. Many people would benefit more from non-12-step programs that incorporate elements from evidence-based sources.
